Canadian silver reference
CAD per troy ounce
Check the source and time.
The source and update time sit beside the price. A delayed reference, sample or user-entered scenario is labelled so you can distinguish it from a current indication.
Allow for purity and weight.
Fine bullion, sterling and lower-purity silver do not contain the same silver per gram. Weighted items can include non-silver fill, so gross weight may not be eligible metal weight.
Compare with the actual price.
A coin or bar may sell above its metal value. A dealer’s purchase offer may be lower, reflecting testing, handling and resale or refining costs.
Canadian silver price FAQ
Common questions about silver.
Is the silver price shown a dealer offer?
No. It is a source-labelled market snapshot or user-entered scenario. A transaction price also depends on verified purity, eligible weight, product form, authentication, costs and the resale or refining route.
How is a troy-ounce silver price converted to grams?
Divide the CAD price per troy ounce by approximately 31.1035. Multiply that pure-silver gram reference by verified purity and eligible weight for a contained-metal estimate.
Why does a silver coin cost more than spot?
Minting, fabrication, distribution, wholesale availability, payment, delivery, inventory risk and dealer margin can create a retail premium.
Why is a silver buyback below spot?
A dealer bid can reflect authentication, handling, market movement, payment, inventory time, refining or wholesale disposition and a required margin. Recognized bullion and mixed sterling usually belong in different lanes.
