Recognized bullion starts with exact specifications
A modern one-ounce Gold Maple Leaf is marked 99.99% pure and the Royal Canadian Mint lists a weight of about 31.11 grams. Product recognition can reduce verification friction, but it never replaces authentication.
A dealer can compare weight, diameter, thickness, visual security features, conductivity and other tests appropriate to the coin. Supported Gold Maple Leafs dated 2014 and later may also be eligible for the Mint's Bullion DNA process through approved dealers.
Do not clean or repackage a coin to help the sale
Abrasive cleaning can damage surfaces and reduce collector or resale value. Original capsules, assay cards, receipts and provenance can help review even though they are not proof of authenticity.
