Vancouver bullion guide

Sell gold bullion in Vancouver with a product-specific spread

Understand how recognized bars are priced in Vancouver: CAD benchmark, refiner, assay, authentication, condition, liquidity and dealer spread.

Prepare your items

01

Document

Keep assay cards, invoices, serial information and packaging together.

02

Authenticate

Expect product-appropriate testing before a firm offer.

03

Price

Compare the bid against the same timestamp and the same product's retail replacement price.

01

Start with the exact bar, not just its gold weight

Recognized one-ounce and metric bars commonly state high purity, but the market also cares about refiner recognition, packaging and whether the product can move efficiently into retail or wholesale inventory.

A damaged assay card does not change the atoms inside the bar, but it can change verification effort and the likely exit route. Meridian's model therefore separates contained metal from testing, handling and target contribution.

02

A buyback percentage is incomplete without a timestamp

A dealer bid must be compared with a stated CAD benchmark at the same moment. Percent-of-spot slogans become misleading when they ignore currency, unit, product premium, payment timing or hidden deductions.

  • Record the benchmark source status and timestamp.
  • Confirm whether payment is immediate or delayed.
  • Ask whether testing or handling is deducted separately.
  • Compare the bid with the dealer's retail price for the identical product.
03

Why the exact bar matters

Recognized bullion has more standardized specifications and resale markets than mixed jewellery. That can support a narrower spread, but the weight, authenticity, packaging, ownership and market conditions still need to be checked.

To discuss selling a bar, contact Meridian with its refiner, weight and any assay or serial information. We’ll discuss the assessment process directly.

Gold bullion FAQ

Before you sell.

Does sealed packaging guarantee a gold bar is authentic?

No. Packaging and assay information are useful evidence, but a buyer still needs an appropriate authentication process.

Why can a recognized bar receive a tighter spread than jewellery?

Standard specifications, easier classification and a clearer resale market can reduce expected testing, refining and inventory costs.

Can I lock a bullion price online with Meridian?

No. Online values are estimates and change with the market. Confirm any final offer and its validity directly with Meridian after assessment.
